Only 8 hours in Las Vegas

Only 8 hours in Las Vegas
May 12, 2023 by Jeremy

I no longer live in Las Vegas, and so I don’t exactly have a place to stay when I need to make a visit. A reason for visiting is that all my belongings are still in storage over there. My clothes, my mail, daily accessories, random junk, and sometimes I may need to grab something to take with me on my next adventures. When I do need to revisit the bright lights of Las Vegas, it would be ideal to stay the night so that I can take my time, but I don’t always like bothering a friend or family member to give me a bed for the night. So in order to avoid this constant nuisance or inconvenience to someone I respect, I’ll avoid staying in the city if I don’t have to.

So, I gave myself 8 hours to grab everything I need, see a few friends, and then dip on at night. Waking up in Dallas, Texas, I took a flight down to Las Vegas at noon in order to touch down in Vegas by around 4pm. The plan is to grab anything I need, start my cars, see a few people before taking a late night red eye back to Dallas in the process. Of course I don’t expect to get any sleep because it’s a 1am flight departing Las Vegas. I’ll shut my eyes for a little bit on the plane, and in the airport, but otherwise, I can just recoup whatever sleep I lost with a day nap back in Dallas. So this is exactly what I did a few days ago. I picked up my mail that has been collecting in a mailbox for 3 months, stopped by my storage to pick up a few things that I wanted to bring with me on my next travels, and then I managed to see my cousin who lives in Las Vegas well. Then by nightfall, I stopped by the Sahara where I used to work last year to say hi to some ex- co workers and then off to my flight I went. That’s my typical routine before leaving Vegas. I’ll stop by the bar I used to work at, grab a drink, catch up with some people I used to work with, and then head out on my next trip.

It’s an exciting and adventurous way to live, all filled with extreme challenges of sleep exhaustion and organizing travel plans, but it’s the life I have chosen to live for now. I shall embrace every moment of it until I decide to make some changes to settle down in a place I can call home, but until then, let’s keep the adventures rolling while I’m still young !
