Here is the process it takes to arrive all the way over to an island in Thailand from the beginning point of Dallas, Texas.
The first few flight legs begin with arriving at an international airport hub within the United States. So, I have to head to San Francisco for my international departure.
Flight: Dallas -> Houston
Flight: Houston -> San Francisco
Now that we are in San Francisco, I can enjoy some lounge time while waiting several hours for my international flight.
Flight: San Francisco -> Singapore
In order to get over to Asia, there are only a couple of direct options to get as close to Thailand as I can since there are no direct international flights from the US to Thailand. So, I have to fly into either Singapore, Taipei, Hong Kong, Tokyo, or Seoul, South Korea. Any of these international destinations will give me the ability to book a flight over to Thailand.
15 Hours later after leaving San Francisco, I arrive in Singapore, one of the most beautiful airports you’ll ever visit. I will now enjoy some more lounge time and study/work time while I await for my next connecting flight towards Thailand. Sometimes there are direct flights from Singapore, but in this case, I have a connecting flight through Malaysia before arriving in Thailand.
Flight: Singapore -> Kuala Lumpur
Flight: Kuala Lumpur -> Krabi
Finally, I have arrived in Thailand, but this is not my final destination as I am heading towards an island off the coast of Thailand. So, from the airport in Krabi, I must take a 2.5 hour bus ride in order to arrive at my final destination.
Bus: Krabi airport -> Koh Lanta (+ short ferry ride)
And at last, the journey from Dallas, Texas to an island in Thailand is complete! 5 flights, a bus ride and a ferry ride, and I finally arrive at my destination within Thailand. The quiet and peaceful island of Koh Lanta!!
